ASci Corporation Corporation

ASci Corporation was established in 1985 as a high technology research management and consulting firm. With headquarters in McLean, VA, won contracts with government agencies nationwide in areas including research and development; information management; laboratory analysis; and geographic information system.  Specializing in providing high quality on-site technical services to the federal government, ASci was recognized for providing high quality services that enabled our clients to achieve their objectives on-time and well within their budget.

ASci was established by Dr. Rizwanul Haque, a well-known chemist who had served since the early 1970s at EPA.  During this time, Dr. Haque was instrumental in the establishment of many of EPA’s earliest research programs in areas including toxic chemical dynamics, quantitative modeling, advanced instrumentation, and information management.

Today, ASci provides on-site technical services to clients throughout the United States.  Areas of support include civil, chemical and environmental engineering; information technology; research and development; biological and chemical field studies; administrative support, and geographic information system.  The Vice President for Federal Services, Mr. Don Robey, has over 30 years of experience in the areas of hydrological and water quality modeling and environmental research and has managed many important national and regional water quality and environmental studies for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  ASci-Federal Services is based in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

bridgeIn 1991, ASci established the Environmental Testing Laboratory (ASci-ETL) in Duluth, Minnesota.  Dr. Don Mount, a world-renowned aquatic toxicologist, was the primary lead for the establishment of the laboratory.  Prior to joining ASci, Dr. Mount wrote many of the effluent testing guidelines for EPA.  Dr. Mount has received numerous awards from EPA, Society of   Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), and other research groups for his contributions to aquatic toxicology research.  ASci-ETL specializes in providing aquatic toxicology, effluent testing, benthic studies, and sediment bioaccumulation and life cycle dynamics studies.  The laboratory also provides chemical product testing for registration.  ASci-ETL is a sustaining member of SETAC. Please see Setac Website (opens new window) for more information regarding this important research group.

lakeASci also provides high quality sediment quality assessment services.  The Director of Sediment Quality, Dr. Elliott Smith, has over 25 years of experience in areas including biological and chemical control, sediment surveys, vessel construction and deployment, and vibrocoring.  Prior to joining ASci, Dr. Smith lead research and development teams in research studies on the transport, fate and effects of sediment contamination on the U.S. Great Lakes.ASci has conducted sediment quality surveys on lakes, harbors, inlets, and rivers throughout the continental U.S. and Hawaii.  These surveys generate data that support EPA Superfund cleanup studies; Clean Water Act, section 404 studies for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and other federal, state and local government regulations.
